In brief: Your practice data, audio files, and raw pitch data stay on your device. If you voluntarily consent in Canu, the app sends selected usage and technical error data to Google Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. You can disable these services independently.

Data handled by Canu

  • Microphone: Audio is analyzed on your device to estimate sung pitch.
  • Optional recordings: Voice and piano audio are saved only when you enable recording.
  • Practice data: Scores, voice profile, progress, language, reminders, and settings may be stored locally.
  • Optional usage analytics: After consent, broad exercise-result ranges, usage events, and subscription events may be sent to Google Analytics with a pseudonymous app-instance identifier. Audio, raw pitch data, exercise titles, free-form text, and custom exercise IDs are not sent.
  • Optional diagnostics: After consent, crashes and technical errors may be sent to Firebase Crashlytics with sanitized stack traces and an installation identifier. Audio and raw pitch logs are not added.
  • Sharing: A recording leaves the app only when you choose a destination in the iOS share sheet.

Retention and deletion

You can delete saved recordings in the app. Deleting the app removes its local data. Device or iCloud backups managed by you or Apple may still contain copies. Reminders are scheduled locally through iOS; Canu does not run a push-notification server.

Apple, Firebase, support, and hosting

In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple StoreKit. We do not receive your complete payment details. Optional analytics and diagnostics are provided by Google Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Firebase uses technical installation and app-instance identifiers; Canu does not set a user ID or use IDFA.

If you email us, we use your message and the information it contains only to respond to your request. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may process technically necessary access data such as IP address, browser information, and access time.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold. Because practice data stays on your device, you can manage most of it directly in the app. For support-related requests, contact support@canusing.com.
